Access: Year-end > Validate employers rates > EHT rate
1Under Filter, select the Province (Manitoba or Ontario).
▪The modification of the exemption amount may be carried out for one province at a time, for one or several companies.
2Click on Refresh. A list of companies for which modifications can be made will be displayed.
3Under EHT rate and exemption amount for each company, enter the required information:
▪Total annual compensation: The total annual compensation amount for which the EHT rate will be automatically calculated.
Things to remember Enter the employer or group of associated employers’ total annual compensation for which the EHT rate will be automatically calculated in Total annual compensation. |
▪Effective date: Date which the rate and exemption value will be applied.
Things to remember If a total annual compensation amount or a new rate is entered and the current date is between January 1st and October 31st: ▪The value showing in Effective date will be January 1st of the current year and the field becomes unchangeable. ▪A warning message will appear to inform you that a retroactive calculation of your contributions paid for the current year will be made and service fees will be billed to you. You will receive a calculation confirmation in your messages on the home page. ▪The amount of the retroactive calculation and eligible earnings will be listed in Retro amount and Eligible earnings of the History of changes to the EHT rate and exemption amount. If the month of the current date is November or December: The Effective date will automatically show January 1st of the following year. You can modify the date if the rate truly applies to the current year. |
▪New rate: Rate entered manually or calculated using the amount indicated in Total annual compensation. This rate becomes mandatory if a total annual compensation is entered.
Things to remember The New rate can contain a rate even though no value is entered in Total annual compensation. If the rate entered is not included in the general rate list, a message appears requiring to confirm that the calculated rate was replaced by the one you entered manually. If the answer is yes, the Total annual compensation will become blank. |
▪Exemption amount: Exemption amount granted by the government.
4Click on Save.
▪A history created automatically. Click on History to view it.
Important The input fields are temporarily deactivated for the company you have modified. As needed, click on Refresh once the confirmation message is displayed to be able to modify these fields again. |
Things to remember ▪The information entered will be transferred in Next rate, Next exemption and Effective date. ▪If the user entered the rate manually, there will not be any data in Total annual compensation. |
